Legislature Building
The bright lime-green Legislature Building houses the Senate of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Originally built in 1874 as Danish police barracks, it is a significant political landmark. Activities: View the neoclassical architecture and the Danish coat-of-arms from the waterfront. While the offices are primarily for government use, the courtyard is a popular photo stop. Highlights: This was the site of the 1917 transfer ceremony when the Danish West Indies were sold to the United States. Note: Interior access for the general public is typically limited to attending public hearings or sessions in the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Hall.
