Reef Bay Trail
The Reef Bay Trail is one of the most popular and challenging hikes in the Virgin Islands National Park, leading from the lush mountainside down to the coast. Activities: Hike 2.2 miles (one way) through tropical forests and past historic sugar mill ruins and Taino petroglyphs at Genti Bay. Highlights: See the ruins of the Reef Bay Sugar Factory and the ancient rock carvings (petroglyphs). The hike back up is strenuous with a 900-foot elevation gain. Booking: The trail is open to the public for free DIY hiking. However, many visitors book the Ranger-Led Reef Bay Hike, which includes transportation and a boat return to Cruz Bay.
