Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge
A stunning, spotless white-sand beach and the largest leatherback sea turtle nesting site in the US. Activities: Enjoy one of St. Croix's longest and most beautiful beaches for walking and swimming. Access is highly restricted to protect the endangered turtles. Highlights: A designated National Natural Landmark. The crystal-clear waters and pristine environment are unmatched. Cost: Free entry. Note: The refuge is only open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm, and is closed entirely from April 1st to August 31st for turtle nesting season. (Note: The current date is Jan 14, 2026, so it is open on weekends).
