How Much Cash Should You Bring to the USVI?
There is no single correct amount because your lodging, dining style, transportation, and activities do most of the work. A sensible approach is to carry a modest first-day reserve in small bills, then use cards and ATMs as needed rather than traveling with all of your trip money.
Cash is particularly handy for taxis, tips, small beach purchases, roadside stands, and backup when a terminal or network is unavailable. Keep cards in more than one place and use a secure wallet; do not leave cash visible in a rental car or on a beach.
Before leaving, ask your bank about travel notices and ATM fees. Confirm whether a villa, ferry, charter, or rental company requires a card hold or separate deposit.
