For U.S.citizens, one of the advantages is logistical.
You are traveling to a U.S.territory.A passport is generally not required for U.S.citizens traveling directly between the mainland and the U.S.Virgin Islands.
The marriage process is handled through the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands.

St.John: The Intimate Choice

Compare the whole event , not just the ceremony location.
How Far Ahead Should You Start ?
For the legal paperwork, start well before travel because the marriage application has an eight - day public posting period.
For the wedding itself, six to twelve months gives you much better control over accommodations and vendors, especially during the busiest winter travel period.
Holiday weeks need even more breathing room.

Ask yourselves this:
Do we want our guests to attend a wedding in the Virgin Islands, or do we want everyone to take a Virgin Islands trip together where we happen to get married ?
