Part of that is logistics: taxi drivers will sometimes steer visitors away from it, and it's easy to miss without knowing exactly where to turn. There's a small entrance fee on weekends (commonly reported around $2–$7 depending on the year), which pays for restrooms, picnic tables, and a lifeguard — a step up from a fully wild beach without the crowds of Magens Bay.
