Magens Bay Beach

Magens Bay is the beach most people picture when they picture St. Thomas — road access, easy parking, and a long stretch of sand that stays calm enough for kids and weak swimmers. That popularity cuts both ways: expect company, and expect to pay the entrance fee at the gate ($7 for non-residents, $2 for residents, free under 12, per the Magens Bay Authority). What's actually there is real infrastructure: a bar and food on site, chair rentals if you don't want to haul your own gear, and restrooms, so you can show up with nothing and still have a full beach day. What it's not is a snorkeling destination — the water here is calm rather than clear, which is exactly why it works for families and weak swimmers but won't satisfy anyone chasing reef life. If snorkeling is the point of your day, Coki Beach a short drive away has better visibility; Magens is the pick when the point is just an easy, well-equipped beach afternoon.
