Pelican Cove Beach, also known locally as Cormorant Beach, has earned Blue Flag status — an international certification tied to water quality and safety — and it's one of the few St. Croix beaches where that kind of formal recognition lines up with what visitors actually report. Palm-shaded and fronted by the Palms at Pelican Cove hotel, the beach has real turtle-nesting activity on its own sand during nesting season, alongside snorkeling reachable directly from the hotel's swim area, where a long reef running from Christiansted's harbor mouth to the swim zone shelters the water and makes non-swim entry impractical elsewhere along the beach. That reef is also why the water in front of the condos themselves isn't considered a swimming spot — coral rock shelf and sea grass sit just below the surface for a good distance out. The hotel property has changed hands and staff more than once over the years, something repeat guests mention when comparing current service to earlier visits, but the beach and its snorkeling access have stayed consistent through those changes.
