What to Pack for the U.S. Virgin Islands
Pack for movement as much as sunshine. A swimsuit and sandals cover the easy parts, but a good USVI bag also includes reef-conscious sunscreen, a hat, water shoes, a small rain layer, insect repellent, and a waterproof pouch for your phone and room key.
Bring a real pair of shoes if you plan to hike, visit ruins, or walk uneven villa roads. A reusable bottle, light cover-up, dry bag, and compact beach towel make ferry and beach days easier. Families may want a small cooler bag and extra snacks for drives where there is no convenient stop.
If you are renting a villa, ask what is already supplied. If you are snorkeling or diving, confirm equipment and certification requirements with the operator rather than assuming a rental shop has your size.
