The reason Red Hook shows up for water sports isn't the harbor itself — it's Vessup Bay next door, a partially enclosed bay calm enough for kayaking and windsurfing without open-water chop. Rental gear, boat cruises, and island-hopping tours are booked through American Yacht Harbor, so a single stop covers most on-water plans.

If you'd rather not paddle yourself, fishing charters run from Cabrita Point for tuna, mahi-mahi, and marlin. If snorkeling is really what you're after, Sapphire Beach's reef is about a 20-minute walk north of town.
