Cruz Bay is the part of St. John that works best when you want choices close together. The passenger ferry, park visitor center, restaurants, shops, taxis, and charter departures all sit around the west-end waterfront, so it is the natural first stop whether you are staying in town or crossing over for the day.

The trade-off is that Cruz Bay is a launch point more than a classic beach base. For a north-shore beach, trail, or Coral Bay day, you still need a taxi, rental vehicle, or boat plan. Start with the arrival time, then choose the meal, beach, or water day that fits the road you are willing to take.
