Passenger ferry or car barge: which crossing do you need?
Without a vehicle, check the passenger service between Red Hook on St. Thomas and Cruz Bay on St. John. Taking a vehicle is a separate car-barge process. Choose the service before checking departures or buying tickets.

Passenger ferry: check both ends
The Red Hook passenger terminal is the Urman V. Fredericks Marine Terminal on St. Thomas. The Cruz Bay passenger dock on St. John is the Loredon Lorence Boynes Sr. Dock. Charlotte Amalie–Cruz Bay is another passenger route; its timetable is separate. Check your ticket’s departure port rather than treating all St. Thomas departures as interchangeable.
Taking a vehicle: use the barge process
Car barges connect Red Hook with the Theovald Moorehead Dock and Terminal at Enighed Pond on St. John. First obtain permission from your rental company to take its vehicle across. Then choose a barge operator and confirm its loading and return procedures.
- Port Authority guidance says car-barge tickets are not interchangeable between companies.
- An online barge ticket does not guarantee space at a particular departure.

Check the dated timetable, then the ticket instructions
The operator and Port Authority display a temporary off-season passenger schedule dated July 26–October 31, 2026 alongside other timetable material. Open the dated notice applicable to your trip; confirm with the operator if displayed tables conflict. This guide does not reproduce departure times.
