Chenay Bay's beach still gets steady visits even though the resort behind its name has quietly changed identity. The original Chenay Bay Beach Resort has been rebranded as Bungalows on the Bay, a smaller beachfront property on St. Croix's east end, though many older guides and repeat visitors still search under the Chenay Bay name out of habit. Reviews of the beach itself split cleanly: some guests call it one of their favorite stretches on the island, praising the view and a calm, shallow cove that's easy and unintimidating to swim in; others describe the snorkeling as underwhelming, with a grassy bottom and few fish compared to St. Croix's better reef beaches. What's consistent across accounts is the setting — a quiet, semi-private inlet on a hillside a few miles from Christiansted, with the resort's restaurant overlooking the sand. A useful thing to know before you go: Virgin Islands law keeps all beaches public up to the treeline regardless of resort signage, so posted "no coolers" or "no outside food" notices at the beach entrance aren't enforceable against the public at large.
